Mayoral and City Council Candidates To Face Questions from Immigrant Community

Members of Seattle’s immigrant and refugee communities have organized a chance for mayoral and city council candidates to answer their questions.

Tomorrow evening OneAmerica and the Council on American-Islamic Relations are hosting a community forum at the New Holly Gathering Hall.

We’re told candidates will be facing questions, “on issues including immigrant rights, child and adult education, gang violence, and budget cuts to social services and libraries.”

In an email, OneAmerica’s Charlie McAteer says, “All council candidates, except councilmember Richard Conlin, are planning to attend the forum, as well as both Mayoral candidates Mike McGinn and Joe Mallahan.”

McAteer says the format will include structured questions from co-sponsoring organizations followed by questions from the community.

The forum is set to run from 6-8 PM Thursday October 8th at the New Holly Gathering Hall (7054 32nd Ave South)
