Governor visits Beacon Hill

President Obama earlier this year declared Sept 11th a National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Today, Washington Governor Chris Gregoire marked the 9/11 anniversary with a day of voluneering across Seattle.

Part of the Governor's afternoon was spent at El Centro de la Raza on Beacon Hill.

First the Governor says she helped out with an art project.

"We are helping create kites for a big cultural celebration on November 1st," says Gregoire.

Then the Governor and her Chief of Staff met with the kids in daycare.

"They are beautiful.  I had an amazing time with them," says Gregoire.

The governor also helped with a construction project to make one side of the building more wheelchair accessable.

"About 8,000 people we expect to show up across the city to contribute in someway to the betterment of their community," says Gregoire.

By 3:00pm the Governor and her fellow volunteers were on their way to another project in another neighborhood.

Coming up, I'll post my full video interview (when youtube finishes 'processing it) with the Governor where I asked her about what she thought of all the changes on Beacon Hill.

UPDATE:  As promised here's the interview.
